New Years & Resolutions

Seasons Greetings ūüôā

I don’t know about you, but my favorite holiday is New Years!!

& the reason for that is, I can be as obnoxiously superstitious as I want and no one can really say anything about it. I’ve been practicing New Years superstitions for as long as I can remember, and I understand that they’re cultural and vary around the world. This sparked my curiosity and I started ¬†researching New Years Eve superstitions around the world, and I was very surprised at how different and conflicting they can be, for example, I was always taught to SUPER clean the house and get rid of all garbage and make sure the house is impeccably clean before midnight, meanwhile, many other superstitions advise NOT to clean, or wash dishes until January 3rd. I guess, I’m a little bias, but I personally think it makes more sense to make sure the house is completely clean and garbage free to welcome a brand new year. So, I thought it would be interesting if I shared some of my New Years Eve¬†superstitions with you.

Living-Space Cleanse

With a week to New Years, You want to start the cleanse in your living space, you can do that by filling small glasses (maybe shot glasses) with Sea Salt and leaving one of these shot glasses in every corner of your home. Sea Salt has a lot of cleansing properties, you can leave these out for the week, and make sure you completely discard all of this salt before midnight January 1st.

You should also light a white candle and leave it by your main entrance door. This isn’t only a good habit before the New Year, but it’s recommended to try this at least once a month. Lighting a candle will help you cleanse what you cannot see. My mom tends to start lighting one before she starts to sweep, mop, and dust.

Next it’s best to cleanse the air by burning Sage, This is a great way to cleanse out negative energies and leave space only for positive energies.

Self Cleanse

Before the New Year, it’s important to cleanse yourself mentally and spiritually. You don’t want to start the new year feeling anger or any negative feelings towards anyone who has hurt you, ¬†You can do this by writing a letter to someone, write about your best attempts to forgive them. When you’re done with your letter it is best to burn them.

(please burn responsibly)

The bath on New Years Eve is the most important bath of the year

You can do this with sea salt as well and a natural soap. You can use¬†BLACKSOAP¬†or Olive Oil soap, or any other natural soap you can get your hands on. It’s important to use this bath to reflect on your year and fill your mind with positive thoughts. Allow the water to fall on your back, as this is where you carry all the negativity and stress. As soon as you’re done with your bath, it’s important to clean the tub before the next person gets in. You can use bleach¬†or¬†White Vinegar.

Once you’re out of the bath and in your new clothes or favorite outfit to bring in the New Year, You can start writing about all the great and wonderful things that happened this year. I like to start by writing about this in chronological order, I start with January and write all the wonderful things that happened to me that month and continue on all the way until I get to December, when I’m done I write about my wishes for the New Year. I always keep this letter, I never burn it. I love to hold on to it and re-read it whenever I’m having a bad day or a bad month. It’s a great way to bring you out of the blues.

Now, I love to bring in the New Year with new clothes and a wonderful outfit, plus. It’s so much fun to get super dressed up.

I also like to wear Red or Yellow underwear (New Underwear)

I keep lentils in my pocket (So that you never go hungry)

A Basil leaf in my wallet (For Prosperity)

8 dollars in my Right shoe (8 is a lucky number for wealth)

(I will probably write about numerology soon, YAY!)

Eat 12 grapes at exactly midnight (make a wish for each grape)

Bring in the New Year with all house lights on and LOTS of noise

& loved ones

The Suitcase

I don’t know if you’ve heard of this one, but usually, after midnight and the 12 grapes my family and I all go out with a suitcase and our passports, We walk around the neighborhood or go around the block for a few minutes. They say, the farther you walk with your suitcase, the farther you will go. This is to ensure that you will travel in the New Year. I’ve been doing this for years, and so far, I have been able to travel internationally, or to other states that year.

(Plus, its always fun to do this with the family, its also AWESOME to find another family walking around with empty suitcases in hopes of the same event)

Party it up

Once you’re back indoors its time to celebrate like there’s no tomorrow.

& the party usually goes on till 6am January 1st.

I’ve been lucky enough to have wonderful years so far, and I’m not saying its 100% because of all of these superstitions, but it doesn’t hurt to believe the way you start your new year is the way the rest of the year will go.

I know this all sounds ridiculous, but It’s the norm in my culture‚Ķ and It’s always fun to believe in these kinds of things. I would love to hear about your New Years superstitions and rituals, feel free to share them!

Happy Holidays

always, ML

Gratitude to the 3rd Power.

I recognize that many of you don’t want to hear about The Secret

The self help book written by Rhonda Byrne. I came across this book while I was in Paris, I overheard a friend of mine talking about it and how it had changed her life, this only inspired me to read it, and yes, it also changed my life. I know the theory has been mocked and has caused a lot of criticism, but the truth is, I understand why and it didn’t hurt to try.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Secret, The Secret is a book based on The Law of Attraction, which claims, positive thinking will lead to a positive life. –

The Law of Attraction – This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from “pure energy” and the belief that like energy attracts like energy. Like attracts Like

so‚Ķ‚Ķ basically.. If you’re sad all the time, you will probably only attract more events and people that will bring you sadness‚Ķ

Now, I know that sounds crazy, but I figured it was worth a try, while I understand that life happens and big problems can’t be fixed so easily.

but this practice was a lot harder than it sounds. It took me years of practice to start thinking positively more than negatively, and it’s still a challenge for me, but it’s something worth working on. It’s definitely a new lifestyle and it has changed my life in many positive ways. I’m more dedicated to taking care of my mind, body, and soul than before.

The power of thoughts is likened to the power in a transmission tower, which sends out a frequency to the universe and then returns the same frequency in a physical or elemental form.

The second key to this belief is Gratitude, the idea “ask and you shall receive” or “believe, ask, receive”

I like to call this Gratitude to the 3rd Power.

(3 is such a Powerful Number)

(NUMEROLOGY post coming soon :] )

by three times; to three times the number or amount.

so, I took this into my own hands to practice and receive all the things I’ve wanted in life, so far, I’m not disappointed,

and again, I understand that sometimes.. life happens and no one asked for horrible situations‚Ķ but It’s also how we deal with it mentally and spiritually that get’s us through it.

I don’t know what you believe in or what you’ve heard, but if you ever feel like you need something new to try, to turn your life around and have a new beginning, it doesn’t hurt, to start changing your thoughts.

*feel free to share your thoughts on this theory.

it’s Christmas Eve.

I wish all of you a happy and beautiful night.

always ML

To Horoscopes, Infinity, and Beyond

Good morning!

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful and eventful weekend. I thought today would be a wonderful day to talk about birth charts! It has come to my attention that a lot of people don’t know what a birth chart is. If you don’t, this is going to be the “Birth Chart for Dummies Guide” and I’m so excited to share this with you, because it’s so much fun.

I would also like to say, that astrology and birth charts can be used to better understand a person and not change them. There’s more to horoscopes than the vague advice we get in our Astrology Apps and horoscope sections in favorite Magazines and Newspapers.

Everyone is different and is affected by the position of the planets and stars differently, after all, we’re made from the same matter that makes up the constellations above us and beyond. There’s gotta be a reason why they say, “People do crazy things when the moon is full”

but, it does control our tides, and we are made up of 70% water after all ūüėČ

Okay, so here’s the thing, we all know our SUN sign, which falls under the month and day you were born, if you’re not sure, here’s a guide & the word that describes them most often.

Aries- March 21 РFebruary 19  [Assertive]
Taurus- April 21 РMay 21  [ Stubborn]
Gemini- May 22 РJune 21  [Intellectual]
Cancer- June 22 – July 22 [Nurturing]
Leo- July 23 РAugust 21  [Confident]
Virgo- August 22 – September 23 [Analytic]
Libra- September 24 – October 23 [Responsible]
Scorpio- October 24 – November 22 [Passionate]
Sagittarius- November 23 – December 22 [Philosophical]
Capricorn- December 23 – January 20 [Pragmatic]
Aquarius- January 21- February 19 [Altruistic]
Pisces- February 20- March 20 [Sensitive]

Now, to find your birth chart, I personally like the website astrolabe, Link: Free Astrolabe

Q: What is a birth chart and why should I care?

A: A birth chart is a chart of the planets and their positions at the time of your birth. Your birth chart is unique to you and helps us understand certain things about ourselves:

(The time of your birth will help you know your Rising Sign #1 on the list below)

  1. Rising Sign: How the world perceives you, The first impression you give people
  2. Sun Sign: You inner self, Ego, & Consciousness   [Identity]
  3. Moon Sign: Emotions, Expressions, and Intuition        [Subconscious]
  4. Venus Sign: Love, Affection, and Passion        [Love]
  5. Saturn: Responsibility, Level of reality and Patience [Obligations]
  6. Jupiter: LUCK! / How you perceive the world, and confidence   [Morals]
  7. Mercury: Logic, Creativity, and Social Interactions     [Communication]
  8. Mars:Execution of Thoughts, Aggression, Power      [ Motivation (sex)]
  9. Uranus:Uniqueness, Sense of Psychic Ability      [Originality]
  10. Neptune:Religion, Spiritual thought process, and Imagination     [Idealism]
  11. Pluto:Growth, Change and Adaptability         [ Obsessions]

& if you’re feeling more adventurous

Lilith: Your DARKSIDE, flaws and bad traits

Descendent: Friendship

Midheaven: What you aim for in life.

N. Node: What you are destined to do.

S. Node: Your Past life and memories.

¬†Once you’ve looked up your own personal birth chart, you can connect the dots and better understand the way you express yourself and why you’re interested in certain topics. Id also like to include some information that can be helpful when you’re doing your research and reading birth charts.

The Elements

  • Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

You may have heard that fire signs are the most passionate. Fire can do lovely things, but when you’re not careful with it, it can burn you.

  • Air: Libra, Aquarius, Gemini.

Air, in my opinion, is the most important element. Air cannot be seen or touched, but it is needed to keep all other elements balanced.

  • Earth: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo

Sometimes called the most serious and down to earth people. Earth is solid and grounded.

  • Water: Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio

Considered the most sensitive and nurturing of all, Water is beautiful and fun when it is controlled, but just like fire, when not kept under control, it can drown you.

Now, of course there’s always more you can know about your own astrology chart. I hope you all had fun, a better understanding of astrology, and how it can be used as a tool to understand yourself and your loved ones. I had so much fun sharing this with you.

a christmas wish

Hello all,

While watching TV, I came across a TV segment where the film crew had gone out on the streets to ask people what they wished for most on Christmas, the ultimate gift of a lifetime. But, the crew didn’t limit this to a gender or lifestyle, everyone from children, to people walking to work, to homeless people, were asked this question. It was a beautiful montage of all types of people from all kinds of lifestyles. Their wishes really put these holidays into perspective. Most people wished for: cars, new kitchens, world vacations, jewelry etc..

When the same question was asked to homeless people, they all wished to see their families again, an opportunity to start over, their own home, a place to feel safe again.. and it really put into perspective how lucky most of us are, the holiday season is a time to think and reflect about others.

There’s about 7 billion people in the world, and that means the same day was experienced 7 billion different ways, sometimes we don’t stop and think about what everyone around us going through.

I’m a big believer in gratitude and being thankful, I know that we should be thankful everyday, but I think today, and these holidays are the most important days to be thankful. I feel these days should be knows for days where we exude

Gratitude to the 3rd power.

Well, that segment on TV ¬†really moved me. I just felt like sharing my thoughts with you guys. Happy holidays, whether you find yourself alone, with you family or whether you don’t celebrate the holidays at all, You’ll all be in my thoughts and I send nothing but positive energies your ways.

happy holidays, ML

New Chia Resolutions

Hi Guysssss!

Since the New Year is right around the corner, many of us are making resolutions to eat healthier and be healthier. One of my resolutions is to incorporate more yoga, healthier food, and fun times into my life.

I’m going to start with Chia Seeds.

Since I’ve recently given up meat, I learned that Chia seeds are a great protein to substitute meat or eggs for, they’re also gluten free. For anyone who’s making the transition to veganism or vegetarian, Chia seeds are great to make this transition easier.

Reason number 1 for switching to chia seeds is PROTEIN.

This is a great substitute for people who eat very little or no animal products. Chia seeds contain about 10% more protein than most vegetables.

¬† ¬† I’m up for anything that provides a high amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants keep us looking young! They fight production of free radicals which can harm cells that contribute to aging and cancer.

Lucky 3 FIBER!

¬† Who isn’t trying to get more fiber into their diet? ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬† ¬†Chia seeds are loaded with fiber. This can help keep you regular, decrease inflammation, and lower cholesterol, which leads to..

This can mainly help you lower cholesterol levels, and keep your brain healthy.

5 for HEALTH

¬† The addition of 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds to your diet can help you tremendously, since it’s a rich source of minerals and nutrients it can keep you full for a longer period of time. The benefits include a healthy weight (keeping in mind the right calorie intake as well as physical activity) and a body full of energy.

There’s plenty more reasons why you should incorporate chia seeds into your diet, but my favorite reason is …

For someone who has tried eating healthy for a long time and is let down by the fact that most healthy foods don’t taste good, Chia seeds don’t really taste like anything, you can add them to your daily *8 glasses of water!

your yogurt, juice, cereal, rice, dessert, vegetables… you can even eat them alone, by themselves! yay!

So, thats one of my New Year Resolutions, I’ll be keeping you guys posted.

feel free to comment your thoughts

green & cruelty free

Ever since I can remember, ¬†I’ve always loved going to pharmacies. My favorite thing to do, ever, was going to a pharmacy to buy shampoo and soap, and lady products, and make up, body lotions, bath gels, nail polish, you name it..

but recently I was watching documentary “The Human Experiment” I was completely heartbroken by the lack of knowledge consumers have about their favorite products.

Harsh chemicals/ingredients in our everyday products have been linked to cancer, asthma, and infertility.

I’ve been spending the rest of my time researching companies and products that are free of chemicals and also, cruelty free. I’m an animal lover and I care very much about keeping our planet habitable for future generations. It is top priority for me to make sure that from now on I only shop green and cruelty free products.

If you also share these concerns I also highly recommend the documentary “Plastic Paradise” both of these documentaries are available on NETFLIX and once you’re finished watching them you might feel horrible and guilty for what we are doing to our planet as well as what we have been introducing into our bodies and our homes without knowing it.

I’ve been online doing research and I will keep you guys updated on brands and companies that provide green and cruelty free products. So far the only website I highly approve of is¬†The Honest Company¬†they offer to send you a bundle of samples that include shampoo, body lotion, hand soap, multi surface cleaner, and healing balm, all you have to do is pay a shipping price of $5.95

I ordered my bundle last week and I’m very satisfied ¬†with it, ¬†I haven’t tried all their products yet, but their healing balm is definitely a MUST HAVE

I’ve come to the realization that the price difference is not very significant and it is definitely worth it in the long run.¬†I plan on buying future products from the website.

after walking through a pharmacy today I was able to walk out without buying a single product. (A huge accomplishment for myself)

I will keep you guys updated on my new organic/green product acquisitions in a blog post next year.

For my next post, I plan on sharing my December Ipsy bag. This is my first ipsy bag and I’m very excited about it (I’ve made sure all brands and products are cruelty free)

If you know of any brands or companies who are health conscious and offer products that are environmentally safe and cruelty free, please let me know =)
